The base of our tea is the seeds of the fenugreek plant (Trigonella foenum-graecum). Also known in India as helba or methi, the use of this herb dates back to 4000 BC. It has a long history of therapeutic use: the ancient Egyptians used it to ease childbirth, increase lactation and treat burns, the ancient Greeks used it to treat infections and the ancient Romans used it to treat fever, respiratory and intestinal diseases and to heal wounds. It was also used in the mummification process by the ancient Egyptians and its discovery in the tomb of Tutankhamun speaks to its importance to the Egyptians. The use of fenugreek has been mentioned in ancient texts and writings by Islamic scholars and physicians.
This tea has a sweet-nutty aroma and a taste reminiscent of maple syrup combined with the bitterness of burnt sugar. It contains vitamins A, C, B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacin), B7 (biotin), B9 (folate), D, as well as protein and carbohydrates, potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, iron, calcium, folate, diosgenin, choline, inositol, soluble and insoluble fiber, as well as alkaloids, saponins, flavonoids, coumarins and amino acids. It has antioxidant, antidiabetic, lipid-lowering, antinociceptive, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, antitumor, immunoregulatory, antipyretic, hepatoprotective, anti-obesity, diuretic, antifungal, antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. This delicious tea is a source of health benefits and deserves a place in everyone’s daily diet.
For Women
Helba contains a naturally occurring compound called diosgenin, which mimics the hormone estrogen produced by the body, helping to balance hormonal imbalances and regulate the menstrual cycle. It can reduce menstrual cramps during PMS, and the alkaloids found in fenugreek help block pain sensory receptors in the brain. It is also a great remedy for women experiencing menopausal symptoms. Studies report a significant reduction in hot flashes, one of the main symptoms of menopause, and it can help balance hormones, reducing mood swings. Helba has long been recognized as a means of increasing breast milk production in nursing women, and various studies have confirmed its ability to significantly increase milk production and subsequently accelerate weight gain in babies.
For Men
Studies have shown that compounds called furostanol saponins found in Helba increase testosterone levels in men. Men showed an increase in strength during resistance training and demonstrated an increase in sex drive by more than a quarter. Hypogonadism, or testosterone deficiency, can affect health with conditions such as diabetes and obesity, regardless of age. It is estimated that over 39% of men over the age of 45 suffer from low testosterone levels, which affects libido, energy levels, bone health, mood, cognitive function, and more. One study found that increasing testosterone levels by 46% in 90% of participants resulted in improved libido, increased sperm count, and mood, allowing fenugreek to establish itself as a scientifically proven aphrodisiac.
Detox and Protect the Body, Strengthen the Immune System
Fennel contains high levels of antioxidants and also has anti-inflammatory properties that help rid the body of harmful free radicals, protect against damage to proteins, DNA, and lipids, and help protect the body from oxidative stress and certain chronic diseases such as diabetes, cancer, Alzheimer’s, and a weakened immune system. Meanwhile, the nutrients and vitamins contained in the tea will strengthen the body’s natural immune system, preparing it to fight common infections, viruses, and illnesses. In fact, fenugreek is known to have an immune-regulating effect. As a natural diuretic, this tea removes toxins from the body, cleansing and stimulating the kidneys and liver.
Helba is a traditional remedy for diabetes, and this is supported by studies that have shown that it can help combat insulin resistance and regulate blood sugar levels in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Even in people without diabetes, it can positively affect insulin sensitivity, improving glucose tolerance. A warm cup of low-calorie, sugar-free fenugreek tea is an excellent choice for diabetics. The steroidal saponins in the tea also reduce bad cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood and increase good HDL cholesterol, thereby reducing the accumulation of cholesterol in blood vessels and preventing hardening and clogging of arteries, and a study found that drinking the tea daily actually reduced cholesterol levels in patients suffering from coronary artery disease. Fenugreek tea is also known to increase levels of the antioxidant enzyme glutathione, which improves heart health. The tea’s anti-inflammatory properties can also help reduce inflammation in the arteries and veins, allowing blood to flow more easily, reducing the risk of platelets clumping and forming clots in the blood vessels. Fenugreek, which is rich in potassium, can also control blood pressure and thus reduce the risk of stroke. By ensuring a good supply of oxygenated blood to the kidneys, combined with its diuretic properties, the tea can help remove toxins, excess fluid and sodium from the body, supporting kidney health, preventing stone formation and reducing body fat. To date, test-tube studies have been very promising regarding the anti-cancer properties and have shown that fenugreek can kill certain cancer cells, such as breast cancer and lymphoma cells, although more research is needed. Fenugreek also contains a powerful compound called trigonelline, which stimulates brain function and has been shown to slow down age-related memory loss and reduce the risk of conditions such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. In addition, by reducing aluminum toxicity, it can also suppress brain diseases. The antibiotic, antimicrobial, and antiviral properties of the tea help reduce symptoms and protect against viral and bacterial diseases, and are also great for oral health, helping to protect against gum diseases such as gingivitis and periodontitis, and eliminating bad breath. In addition, its antinociceptive properties make it ideal for treating pain from rheumatoid arthritis or any joint and muscle injuries by blocking or reducing pain receptors, while its anti-inflammatory properties help reduce swelling. Since fenugreek mimics estrogen, it can also help reduce the risk of developing arthritis or other autoimmune conditions. It is also a good remedy for gout, as it can reduce inflammation both internally and externally.
Assess Digestion
Studies have shown that fenugreek, a long-used digestive aid, reduces heartburn symptoms and its effectiveness is comparable to that of antacid pharmaceutical products. It supports normal digestive function and helps control acidity and ulcers, as well as eliminates bloating and constipation. It is known to be an excellent dietary supplement for patients suffering from IBS and ulcerative colitis, and is recommended to be taken immediately after meals.
